Poor way of cutting out a background in InDesign.

This guy obviously doesn’t use InDesign in a production environment!

  8. schnids1605 says:

why couldn’t the guy just use a picture of something less complicated than a picture of a group of girls. it took him 5 minutes just to clip the damn thing. You could easily show someone how to clip an image in a minute.

Not to mention it’s a picture of 13 year old girls….kinda creepy in it’s own right

  9. shaolintiger1 says:

Never do this kinda work in indesign, stop being lazy and take it to photoshop.

  10. rabitztube says:

This was the first tutorial that I used on InDesign and it was a great tutorial. very clear – I did it along with you. Yes, you can do the same thing with Photoshop, but this is for learning INDESIGN….thanks – great job!

  11. noestrad says:

for starters the pen tool don´t only have straight line, you can also do curves and for a second feedback, I think this method is too slow, you could have your many other ways in photoshop, but still thanks for the effort man.

  12. wotzilla says:

If you want to do professional graphics design, do you absolutely have to use a Mac? I know they have a PC version of InDesign but for some reason employers expect me to have InDesign on a Mac platform.

  15. RobertoBasilico says:

    Cool video man!

  16. hippynz says:

Not the best method. When doing an InDesign document (and for that matter any document) the pictures should be prepared in Photoshop (or similar) before hand, and saved as .TIF with transperancy (if needed otherwise .JPG. Then Place the image into the InDesign document. This method should only be used when something can not be changed untill it is in the document, like cutting a chunk out of a picture that you can not tell where to do it till u see the text sitting over it.

I use this video tutorial quite a bit as a good reminder.

  19. zagmazmatron says:

I am a beginner layout designer, and even I know this is a very unprofessional technique. Not only does he have a poor grasp of the pen tool’s capabilities, but this job is much better suited for Photoshop’s selection tools. If you MUST use InDesign for this job, at least bend some of the anchor points so it doesn’t look like you used a dull pair of scissors to chop out the background!

  26. icecream841 says:
